Rock County Trial Lawyer

Joshua is an aggressive trial lawyer with extensive trial experience. As a 16-year veteran State Prosecutor and private bar defense attorney, Joshua has tried over 100 cases to a judge or jury. From disorderly conduct and drunk driving to felony drug delivery and child sexual assault cases, Joshua has routinely convinced juries to side with him. Joshua focuses his practice on criminal defense and labor law issues.

Joshua has spent his career in the courtroom. He has cultivated positive working relationships with Circuit Court Judges, State Prosecutors, and law enforcement officials. Joshua has a very close working relationship with law enforcement and worked closely for years with the Walworth County Drug Enforcement Unit.

Joshua is also a teacher and a trainer. Joshua taught police officers around the state legal updates and best practices to help ensure officers were properly trained to handle their cases legally and ethically.

Joshua has extensive experience working with children and families. To better help those who have been victims of abuse and neglect, he has been specially trained in how children disclose abuse and in how children behave during and after abuse. Joshua has trained professionals around the state on the best practices in investigating these sensitive cases. This background makes Joshua uniquely qualified to defend you or your loved one against any claim of physical or sexual abuse.

Joshua firmly believes that your best defense in any criminal matter is a good offense. Good people routinely find themselves in serious legal trouble, and Joshua understands that each client has an important history and story to tell that goes far beyond what can be learned from a police report. He has had great success in influencing prosecutors' charging decisions, and getting criminal charges reduced or dismissed by sharing with prosecutors the rest of the story.

The key is preparing every one of his cases as if it were to be tried to a jury. This shows prosecutors that Joshua knows his case and is ready to put the State to their burden. It is this philosophy that so often results in very favorable outcomes for his clients. His experience as a longtime prosecutor allows him to analyze a criminal case from both sides to develop and deliver thoughtful and effective defense strategies.

By really listening to his clients, understanding their needs and goals, and truly caring about their unique situations, Joshua is able to achieve remarkable results.
